Mobile RADlets  

Mobile RADlets are J2ME applications that can be installed on mobile devices. They provide limited functionality of a desktop lyteRAD application on a mobile device. The mobile application will allow users to create and edit data records and synchronize it with the desktop application. Mobile features and functionality are further limited by the mobile devices capabilities and specifications.

Creating mobile RADlets Click on Packager in the top menu, select Create Application. After you provide a name and desription for the app the designer window will be visible. The blue widgets in the widget tool bar are components that can be added to a mobile RADlet. Mobile data browser Allows you to browse through table information on the mobile device. Mobile data form The data form component can be used to allow users to add data records from a mobile device. SMS widget SMS component allows you to send record information as a SMS to others. Sync widget The Sync widget can be added to synchronize information between the mobile RADlet and the desktop application.

Installing a RADlet
To install a RADlet you need a J2ME compatible mobile device. The process involves three steps as listed below.

• Step 1: The lyteMobile runtime is a prerequisite for running RADlets. Install the mobile runtime [visit the download section of the website] on the mobile device.
• Step 2: Copy the RADlet [from workspace/applications] to your mobile devices applications directory. Most devices will automatically install J2ME applications when you send it via bluetooth.
• Step 3:When you create the application a copy of the table data will be exported as dat files along with the mobile RADlet, for use on the mobile device. Copy these files to your mobile devices root directory
